Frank Rothkamm [ Tubular Bells ]

I shall arrive in a new world. Full of wonders on which no man has ever set foot. I have faith but I am naked in front of the unknown. My senses are heightened, I am aware of all things that might befall me. When I find a path I will follow it even if it leads me back to the beginning. I try again to stop making sense. My perception is at the limit of the highest vibrations and extends, due to my extender, to the lowest. The path is clear. In the center of what seems like an old field, I discover a Tubular Bell. I sit down. It multiples and changes form then merges into the world around me, only to reappear with a message: “Sometimes you feel that this is the end of something. This feels unsettling. You go in many directions at once, you toss and you turn, but there is an undeniable pull to some other place. You are at a dead end. One more step and everything will collapse. No, everything is about to collapse if you don’t step back. What have you been thinking? This just isn’t working, you’re just banging your head up against a wall. You’re looking at your former self, the one you thought you could have been. It was an illusion from the start. You could have listened to others that told you not to try, to stay away, be safe. But no, you said, you’ll do this. Many will enter, few will win. You entered and you lost. Again and again, you kept up the illusion that one bright day in the future you will win. But there is no game, no other self. So get up and tend to the things that need tending. Be..” Then the message cut off. I stand still with my feet firmly on the ground. Although I feel naked, I am relieved and try to understand as much as my abilities allow. A path reappears and the Tubular Bells vanish into the multitude of forms. But now, I can fathom them through the plethora of things that might befall me. The world is no longer a new world. I can see that from a distance. It rotates along an ever shifting axis until it disappears from view on the horizon. Now I better put some pants on.
