| According to legend, Maria Callas spent the last years of her life alone in her Paris apartment, listening to her old recordings. A dramatising fantasy for sure. The last artistic statement of Maria Callas is then supposedly a piece of performance art, the act of sitting in a chair and listening to her own recorded voice, over and over again. This indeed would be her last opera. So I composed it. An opera where Maria Callas is simultaneously the composer and performer. |
